I love learning languages and have studied many in my life. I've used different tools like Anki, HelloTalk, and Duolingo. But I have to say, I've never come across a tool as helpful as ChatGPT when it comes to quickly learning new words and improving my grammar. Even just a few minutes of having a practice conversation with it have taught me so much about various topics!
For my language learning journey, I have found one prompt to be incredibly helpful.
It assists me in discussing real topics, improving my grammar, and creating more natural-sounding sentences.
Without further ado, here is the prompt that has been incredibly useful in my language-learning endeavors:
Let’s practice Italian. You are Marco, an Italian from Verona.
Ask me the first question as Marco and try to learn more about me.
When I respond in Italian, rewrite what I said to make sure it is both grammatically correct and natural sounding as ChatGPT (preface your answer with [ChatGPT]). Then explain why you made each correction in English using bullet points.
After that answer as Marco (preface your answer with [Marco]) and continue the conversation by asking me a question.
Wait again for me to answer.
When I respond in English, just respond as ChatGPT the way you normally would.
Now ask your first question as Marco.
Here is a small excerpt from a conversation I had with Marco:
I simply love it! Thanks to ScreamingPrawnBucket on Reddit for this idea.
Try it out. Has it worked for you?
Adam
PS: The free version of ChatGPT sometimes begins an endless conversation with itself. If this happens ask ChatGPT why it doesn’t wait for you to answer.
Does anyone know if the prompt is broken?

Sounds amazing but it did the endless conversation thing for me.
